4 Mom Approved Looks For School And Play

May 23, 2017

Thank you Kohl’s for sponsoring this post.  All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

By now you’ve noticed I encourage my kids to play outside as often as possible. If you find it difficult to get your kids off the tablets, computers and phones, definitely check out my blog post “The Best Way To Get Your Kids Outside” to help you with that. If you’re willing to put in the work, it’s guaranteed to work. Continuing on with the outdoor fun, I’ve partnered with Kohl’s to put together 4 mom approved looks that are fashionable enough for school AND durable enough for play.

When Joel and Elle get home from school and daycare the first thing they want to do is hop on their bikes and scooters.  They ride in our yard, up and down the driveway, and when I’m outside with them I let them go down the sidewalk a few houses away.  When I was growing up my mom would make me come inside after school and change my clothes but the Kohl’s gear can handle everything my kids get into.   They go from school to play no grumbling in between and I can tell these clothes will last longer than my kids will wear them.

Joel’s Scooter Outfit

Any mom with a son knows how difficult it is to find good quality clothing for boys. You walk into the store and see about 20 racks full of bright adorable girls clothing and then about 3 racks for boys with only mesh athletic shorts and a few basic T’s.  At Kohl’s I literally lose my mind with the variety of clothing I find there for Joel.  When shopping for his clothes I keep two essential things in mind – quality and comfort.

Shop Joel’s Scooter Look
Shirt: Boys 4-7x SONOMA Goods for Life™ Space-Dyed Embroidered Graphic Tee, Boy’s, Size: 5, Med Blue
Shorts: Boys 4-10 Jumping Beans® Solid Shorts, Boy’s, Size: 5, Dark Grey
Sandals: SONOMA Goods for Life™ Colt Boys’ Sandals, Boy’s, Size: 13, Blue (Navy)

Elle’s Bike Outfit

Elle is a girly girl who loves riding her bike and I jumped for joy when I realized Kohl’s offered so many skorts! Ya’ll remember skorts right? Skirt and shorts all in one! I wore skorts as a little girl and I don’t want what Elle wears to slow her down. In this tee-and-skort combo, she can jump, run and ride in style.

Playing with sidewalk chalk is another fun outdoor activity we love.  It encourages kids to get down on the ground and tap into their creativity.  I love joining them when they play with the chalk and I ask what they’d like me to draw.  Today Elle wanted me to make a big sun and Joel said I should make clouds and rain.

Elle’s Chalk Look

Who doesn’t love a romper?  This Kohl’s outfit is cute, play proof and durable.  Made with quality construction, a fun mixed match pattern, and it comes in bright colors.

Both the boys outfits are great. As the mom of two boys I remember how tough it was to find clothes that were not incredibly boring or too cutsy. The paid shirt is very sharp.

I don’t have kids yet but when I shop for my nieces and nephew I always run into the same problem finding something for my nephew. And when I do get something it last a few months before a growth spurt hits. Lol.

I like Joel’s outfit–simple and handsome. I also like Elle’s outfits, especially her skorts! I think they look adorable on her! 🙂

    Hey Jenell,

I have to kids myself name Jairus and Larajane 🙂 I know sometimes they are difficult to find a dress for themselves and my wife are always looking to buy online instead of at the store.

Seriously. How can you possibly expect me to focus on the clothes when I’m so distracted by all that kid cuteness?!?! You don’t play fair, but you do put together some great outfits. I really love Joel’s scooter look. Those shorts look SO comfy for a little guy to play in.

These are perfect outfits for some active play in the summer. I really do like those bright blue and pink colors and the sandals were great choices.

They look adorable. I love kids’ clothes that are cute but allow for great freedom for play. Kohl’s is one of our first stops for clothes shopping!

I love the outfits! I remember wearing skorts when I was younger. Definitely great picks for toddlers and kids who enjoy playing outside! I have a little girl so I’m already thinking of ways to get her outside more.

Getting kids outside to play is so important! These outfits are perfect and so adorable! I love shopping Kohls!

All 4 looks are absolutely gorgeous. I think Oscar would like Joel’s Scooter Look best though as he’s into anything to do with Pirates, or the sea, so the anchor tee would be right up his street 🙂
