5 Podcasts I Listen To Every Week

March 22, 2017

I love listening to podcasts, so much so that I started my own podcast late last year. My self titled podcast, Jenell B Stewart Podcast, is a weekly lifestyle podcast designed to educate, empower and engage. I didn’t want to commit to talking about any one thing all the time because I am multidimensional. My episodes touch on various aspects of our lives such as love and marriage, health, entrepreneurship, parenting, self love and more. My goal with my podcast is to have readers feeling uplifted and inspired after listening to each episode.

I’m subscribed to maybe 50 different podcasts and I’m not able to tune into every single episode they each produce. But there are 5 podcasts that I literally can’t wait to listen to each week.  I prefer to listen to podcasts while I’m cooking, driving in my car, in a waiting room somewhere, or while on a plane. But for these 5 podcasts I find myself so anxious to tune in to them that I’ll find time at any point of my day to tune in even if I can only listen for 10 minutes and then have to stop and tune in hours later for 10 more minutes while hiding out in the bathroom from my kids.

If you’re new to podcasts these 5 are a great place to start.  If you love listening to podcasts like me, let me know if you’re already subscribed to any of my 5 favorites.

5 Podcasts I listen To Every Week

The Friend Zone

Hosts: Dustin Ross, HeyFranHey & Assante
Tune In: Wednesdays
Subscribe: iTunes or SoundCloud

Why I Love It ❤️

Talk about hilarious! Talk about relatable! Talk about real!  The Friend Zone gives me everything I need and more.  And it takes all day to listen to an episode because each one is 2 hours long!  But I promise you the time goes by so fast.  Their episodes explore mental health, mental wealth and mental hygiene in a way that is down to earth and very engaging.  The hosts Assante and Dustin have me rolling with their freestyle raps and impromptu singing sessions.  They can bust out in song at any second!  They remind me so much of how I used to be in my high school years, I was always singing. I love Fran’s chill vibes she’s very smart and resourceful and her self love is very inspiring to me as a black woman.

My Favorite Episode: Black Memory Lane

The Casey Crew

Hosts: Gia Casey and her husband DJ Envy
Tune In: Wednesdays
Subscribe: iTunes or SoundCloud

Why I Love It ❤️

If you want a podcast that will give you the good, bad, ugly and beauty of relationships you must tune in!  and family. DJ Envy and his wife Gia are so open and so honest.  They share their real life experiences with us every single week – no holds barred.  I love how hood DJ Envy is all the time.  He will hit you with all the curse words your mama never let you say.  Gia is a story teller, she sets the stage and pulls you all the way in.  They are one of the most down to earth celebrity couples on the internet and when answering listener questions they use their real life scenarios to explain why they believe what they believe.  I love their argument of the day segments!

My Favorite Episode: “No, You’re Not Putting Your Finger In My Butt…”

I found this podcast when I was looking for a podcast on marriage.  I was hoping to find something wholesome that supported the sanctity of marriage and would be inspirational to listen to via podcast.  The hosts believe marriage should be forever and that you don’t have to be unhappy in your marriage.  They bring you solid, research-based marriage advice to help you stay in your marriage.

I’ve been following Francesca from youtube. I lived for her channel especially her humor. Each week they discuss what’s going on in the world along with what’s happening in their lives as a married couple.

Why I Love It ❤️

I read your Doubt your Fears not Your Dreams podcast notes. It was helpful and made it motivating to put my dreams in action. I want to accomplish something not be that person that say they are going to so this amd that and nothing happens.

I’ve never listened to a podcast, but I’m definitely interested. My TV is becoming overrated. If I can gain something from it, I’m game.

    Hi Jenell!

I’m subscribed to your podcast and I’ve listened to almost every one! I love the genuine feel I get from listening to you. It’s as if we’re girlfriends having a conversation. Podcasts generally speaking can’t hold my attention for y’all long. I find that my mind begins to wonder. I’ll subscribe, but then will only listen to maybe one or two then be done. I am seeing that last name basis may be right up my alley. Being a married woman, it’s nice to listen and interact with other married peers. I’ll be sure to check that podcast out! Thank you for the recommendations. Waking up to a beautiful mug filled with coffee or tea will be a great start to my mornings with some motivational podcasts!

Thanks for sharing these! I’d love to know what other podcasts you recommend. I’ve never listened to any of the ones you mentioned, but I’d definitely be interested in OYF marriage podcast. I’m just getting into podcasts again, so I’ll be signing up for yours too. I’ve enjoyed Dave Ramsey’s in the past so I remember how helpful they can be! (

I love listening to podcasts, much like you stated, it makes monotonous tasks a little easier because you’re learning and/or laughing most of the time. I didn’t realize you nor Fran had a podcast, I’ll have to tune-in. My favorite podcasts are relatable, straightforward, and most importantly humorous. Keep up the hard work!

I JUST found out about Francesca through a podcast that I listen to regularly, Marie Forleo’s! She did an interview with Francesca about a month or so ago and their conversation resonated with me on so many levels. I feel like I am learning and figuring a lot out right now on a number of different fronts and their conversation spoke to me on some of those points. They both are individually awesome and to hear their exchange was rich. Thank you for sharing her podcast name, I didn’t know she had one, will definitely check it out!

Thanks for the list! I’m not subbed to any of them – 50 is A LOT to be subbed to, how do you find the time?? I’m subbed to 5 that I regularly listen to, I hate to overwhelm myself lol I must admit I have been slacking on listening to podcasts though … but I do like options 🤔
