5 Things I Want To Do On A Romantic Getaway To Costa Rica

June 5, 2017

Today is my 12 year (dating) anniversary! Yes I celebrate the day we made it official as well as my wedding anniversary (which is next month – 7 years!).  I know I’m not the only one that celebrates my dating anniversary am I?

Our dating anniversary and wedding anniversary are a month a part and each year we celebrate our love in a fun rememberable way.  When time and our budgets allow we will go away for a few days just the two of us — NO KIDS! I’ve been up for hours planning this years romantic getaway with, they make planning a trip so easy!

We went our first romantic getaway in 2013.  We decided on a simple easy to plan trip to Miami because that is where our love first began in 2005 and that is also where we tied the knot on the beach in 2010.  I’ve been to Miami about 4x and was very familiar with the local spots, the beaches, and the night life.

A year later, in 2014, we went on a romantic getaway to the US Virgin Islands. I visited USVI for a business trip and fell in love with the country.  When I got home I couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the Virgin Islands was. I returned a few months later with my husband for a quick 3night stay at the hotel I stayed in for work.  We visited the beach everyday and enjoyed the local eats.

The following year, in 2015 we went on a romantic getaway out of the country for the first time to Jamaica.  Jamaica is lovers paradise and the beaches are everything you imagined in your dreams. We went with an all inclusive hotel because we had no prior experience with the area and the food and drinks were heavenly.

As you can see each year we’ve gone further and further from home and this year I’m looking into Costa Rica as a possible getaway, have you ever been?

I had no idea where to start with this trip and I’m so happy to have found  Instead of visiting 10 websites searching for information and trying to piece together all the different parts of my trip, assists me step by step with planning my perfect trip.  This modern online travel agency provides information, inspiration, and custom travel planning to help you explore some of the coolest places on the planet, such as Peru, Costa Rica, Belize and Cuba.  And best of all, their expert trip planning service is free!

The travel planning tool is easy to use and once completed you get a custom day-by-day tip plan.  Start by selecting the purpose of your trip, how many people are traveling, select the date and share a little information about your perfect trip.  From there you also select any local attractions you’d like to see and any activities you’ve like to do during your trip.

5 Things I’m Most Excited To Do In Costa Rica

The photos of the Costa Rican suspension bridges are iconic. The bridges spread across the rainforest canopy, revealing the tops of trees and the valleys below. Bridges range from 100 to 1000 feet.  I found over 20 different guided tours on that we can sign up for. Guided tours add invaluable information to the bridge trips, as escorts often point out plants and animals that had seemed invisible a moment earlier.

I’ve never seen a waterfall and knowing that Costa Rica has hundreds of cascading waterfalls is making my even more excite. We can take a day hike to see the many breath-taking waterfalls and a refreshing afternoon swim.

I was unaware that Costa Rica had hundreds of volcanic formations. Many of the volcanoes are dormant — Thank God!  I’m sure this won’t be the most exhilarating trip but Hubby and I could take a day trip to see the volcano and I can check that off my “things I’ve done in life” list.

What I would give to sip a margarita with the man I love in a Costa Rican hot spring! Many hot spring tours are accompanied by other activities, including mud baths, massages, horseback rides, zip lines, hanging bridge tours, and more.

I think having a cultural component to our trip would give us an opportunity to learn a little about the people and the history of Costa Rica. Costa Rica is famous for it’s coffee and we can take a day trip to a local coffee farm to see every stage of the coffee production process, from harvest to cup.

As if all the offerings weren’t enough, my personal squad aka my team of regional experts created a preliminary plan for my trip and are available to support me in managing all the bookings on my behalf.  I’m hoping hubby and I will be able to go on this trip this year, but if not I have all the information I need to have a great trip whenever we are ready.

It’s time for you to start planing your next getaway. Where are you going?

This is an excellent compilation of not just things to do in Costa Rica, but things we would actually love to do ourselves on a romantic getaway there. We weren’t aware of there being hot springs and would definitely love to try them out. Are there mixed hot springs?

I have never been to Costa rica! It is on our travel wish list for sure. I could see why it would be a very romantic getaway for sure. Maybe it is time to start planning!

I have been to Costa Rica but on family trips. As I read your post, I realize that maybe I should start asking my husband to plan a trip to this tropical oasis, where there is so much things to do as a couple. We might even consider renewing our wows here. Sounds like a great place for that too. I love chasing water falls….

This sounds like a dream trip! I’m sure my to-do list would be pretty close to the same as yours. I would love to take this trip with my husband. What an amazing place Costa Rica is. Like I said, a dream trip.

I love that you have a dating anniversary and a wedding anniversary that is so sweet (we do that too). We’ve never been to Costa Rica but you sure have shared a lot of wonderful romantic ideas. Hope we get there soon!

I always love stories about how people met. Their eyes light up, just like I can feel your happiness through your words. I know what you mean about a separate dating and wedding anniversary. When someone asks how long you’ve been together, it’s really true to say 12 years, although you’ve been married 7. How sweet about Costa Rica! It’s a place I’ve always wanted to go, but haven’t made it quite yet x

I can’t decide which I’d enjoy doing most. I suppose I will only know after I’ve experienced them all. I just need to convince my hubby to take me to Costa Rica on our next trip (without the kiddos, of course).
