6 Books To Take With You On Vacation

July 11, 2017

With vacation season upon us, it’s time to stock up on that reading list. Get the perfect book for the flight (no matter how long it is) and you’ll feel rested and relaxed. Vacations are a great time to ignore your phone and instead pick up a good book and read it wherever you go. It’s the perfect time to recharge and calm your mind. With that said, these are a few books I recommend you pick up for your next flight. I can guarantee that you won’t be able to put these down…

Year Of Yes by Shonda Rhimes

As a lover of the hit TV shows Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder I was very excited to hear that the producer of those shows wrote a book. Shonda Rhimes is very entertaining and that’s exactly how I’d describe this book. She takes you through her struggles as someone who was all work and no play all the damn time and shares how she started living through saying “Yes” for a full year. Buy it here.

Maya Banks Breathless Trilogy

Start with Rush, the first book of the Breathless Trilogy, while you’re waiting to board your plan and you may just miss the announcement to board your flight because honey this book will hijack all of your attention.  This series puts the E in Erotica and the S in Seduction.  These 3 page-turners involves lots of sex and will leave you hot and bothered. But it here.

And Then There Was Me: A Novel by Sadeqa Johnson

You will never want this story to end similar to your vacation. It is a beautifully written novel about friendship, marriage, secrets, and betrayal told from the perspective of a woman who has been stripped down to her lowest point.Buy it here.

This Is Just My Face by Gabourey Sidibe

Gabourey Sidibe is not your average gifted and privileged girl. She shot to fame in 2009 in Precious, which is how we’ve all come to know and love her. This is her life story, and boy, is it fascinating. Buy it here.

I actually read the entire Breathless Trilogy a while back. You described them perfectly. When waiting for “Burn” to come out, I remember thinking “What could possibly happen next?” but it (actually the entire trilogy) was an awesome hot page turner! LOL!

I didn’t even know Gabourey wrote a book? She’s awesome on AHS. I’m definitely going to have to read that.

I am currently reading The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. I also have on my list for this month: Persuasion by Dave Lakhani and The Art of Happiness at Work by the Dalai Lama. I have to admit, since graduating law school I have not been able to physically take up a book to turn page by page, use a bookmark and read it all the way through #ptsd lol – I’ve since opted for audiobooks. A wonderful alternative!
