How To Keep Your Kids Healthy On The Go

June 8, 2017

Can I let you in on a little secret? I love being busy.  There’s always something going on in my day – gym, work, meeting, shopping, cooking, film videos, go to industry events, and let’s not forget I’m a wife and mom.  Speaking of being a mom, I keep my kids very busy too.  Elle and Joel are involved in a whole lot of sports and activities. Each week we juggle ballet practice, two Tae Kwon Do practices, gymnastic training, soccer practice, church missionary group, trips to the park, play dates, game nights and sleep overs. Now that summer is coming we can add swimming lessons and summer camp to that line up!

What activités are you little ones involved in this summer?

When you’re always on the go it’s important that you have healthy, delicious and filling snacks with you at all times.  And I do mean all times.  If I’m ever caught without a snack in my bag please arrest me. Or at least that’s how Elle will make me feel.  Oh yes, you have to see her. She’s ALWAYS hungry. In fact, She’s hungry right now.

Gymnastic Snacks

Time for gymnastics! This jumping bean exerts a ton of energy. During a lesson Elle does forward rolls, backwards rolls, lunges, cartwheels, high jumps, straddle jumps (as shown above), hops, hand stands, balance beams and more!  I’m exhausted just thinking about all that she does in this hour.

Elle is a big foodie –like me!  We prefer comfort foods over everything else.  Some of Elle’s favorite snacks are popcorn, carrots and hummus and after recently trying the Sprout Pumpkin Apple Red Lentil with Cinnamon protein blend she’s found a new favorite.  This is a very hearty pack and works great as a post workout snack. Elle says “it’s so delicious” and I love that it’s made with organic red lentils offering and is dairy free offering a delicious protein alternative to meat and dairy-based products.

Tae Kwon Do Snacks

When I’m headed out to Tae Kwon Do with Joel we like to grab a few of his favorite snacks. Bananas, Bananas, Bananas, Bananas.  My son loves banana more than a monkey and can and would eat only bananas for the rest of his life.  Nothing wrong with that I guess, but man can not live off of bananas alone.  Can he?

To add some variety to Joel’s diet I gave him the Sprout® Power Pak™ Toddler Purees Sprout Power Pak. Now guess what ingredient is in this bad boy? BANANA. It’s important when you’re expanding your littles one food options that you don’t go too far away from foods they love and when possible try to mix the foods they love with the new foods.

Sprout Power Pak organic toddler purees are made from 100% plant-based nutrients aka THEY ARE VEGAN! Whole, organic fruits and vegetables are combined with our unique Superblend, providing essential nutrients for toddlers and offering a full serving of fruit, omega 3 from chia, 3 grams of protein, and 3 grams of fiber per pouch!

Soccer Snacks

Joel has been playing soccer for almost 3 years and he’s been killing it on the field.  Usually after Joel finishes soccer he’s dehydrated, starving and tired.  I usually have a vegan sandwich with lot’s of water on deck for him.

Recently, my God daughter Alyssa stayed with us for the weekend and what a joy she was. We always have so much fun with her and Elle thinks Alyssa is a little doll baby.  Elle is always trying to pick her up even though she’s one half her size!  We brought Alyssa with us to Joel’s soccer practice and she had a ball running across the soccer field while her God Brother was playing.

As a snack option i game her the Sprout® Organic Curlz™ they offer a variety of flavors; Broccoli, White Cheddar, and Sweet Potato Cinnamon.  These are a great alternative to potato chips and other similar puffs. Organic Curlz are also gluten-free, non-GMO, and offer a perfect curly, crunchy texture for toddlers and the Broccoli and Sweet Potato Cinnamon flavors are vegan.

My kids watch my husband and I enjoy healthy foods every day thus making it easier for us to introduce them to new healthy food options like Sprout. If your kids see you are enjoying healthy eating, more than likely they will enjoy it as well. My 7 year old had a very busy and stressful Spring so we decided to keep summer somewhat light this year. She had spring swim lessons so we decided not to sign her up this summer and get a family pool pass and work with her ourselves. She is also taking a break from dance over the summer. She is doing Karate though and a Harry Potter camp. Those look like a great snacks for on-the-go

We always take pouches like these with us when we’re out and about. They’re just so convenient for the little ones to grab and tuck into 🙂

Pouches like those are the best invention. You never have to worry about them getting damaged in a carry bag!

My daughter text gymnastics, and it is always super hot in the gym. This would be a good thing to have with a little cold pack so that she could have a cooler snack. They seem like convenient snacks to take places and on vacations.

That is so cool they are keeping busy during the summer. I too keep a lot of snacks and plenty of water on hand when we are out. My kids have not tried the Sprout line, I may give them a try soon. I like any snack that come in a pouch so easy to store.

I sure remember the days when my kids were this age. We were constantly on the go, and our calendar had scribbles and scratching all over it! I agree that it’s good to have healthy snack options for when we’re away from home. If I don’t, I end up either getting too hungry, or find myself reaching for something that I’ll end up regretting later. ps: The Sprout brand snacks look wonderful. I’m going to keep an eye out for them!

My nephew loves those little pouches. I’m not sure if they’ve tried the Sprout brand yet for him, I’ll have to find out. I know he would probably gobble them up. I love the unique flavors, such a great way to expand your tot’s palate.

I wuold love to try out those curlz. I think they would be yummy. But as far as the apple sauce my daughter has tried that out before and she didn’t really like it. Loved all the pics on this post. They are very cute.
