Recently, I found myself in a situation where I was so afraid to advocate for myself because I was afraid I’d lose a business deal. It’s a unsettling feeling when you have something in your hands and you realize you’re being undervalued. I knew I could say nothing and keep the deal as is which honestly wasn’t a bad deal just not what I deserved.

If I say nothing would I be happy? But what if I say something and they decide I’m not able to fit in their budget? Would I be happy then?

I wrote and rewrote an email maybe 6 times. Each time I was passively explaining why I was changing my original offer. Then finally I took a page from own book “Inhale Confidence, Exhale Doubt”. I sent the new offer. With NO explanation. 😓

I breathed in and out and in and out and in and out – Confidence in, Doubt Out … 3 minutes later I got a reply saying “That’s fine. Thanks Jenell.”

Know your worth.
Advocate for yourself.
Don’t be afraid to say No without an explanation.
God is good.
