My Salt Free Seasonings! (red pepper flakes, minced onion, Mrs Dash, Cayenne Pepper, Black Pepper)
This year my hubby and I have set a goal to cut back on sodium by not salting our food as best we can. I grew up on Adobo, bouillon cubes, and salt and I’ve learned to cook with them. Hubby and I haven’t salted our meals for going on 2 months. And this includes adding ketchup and/or marinades. It’s been hard and our palates often desire the grand flavor that salt adds but we are committed.
WHY AM I DOING THIS?
In my research I’ve learned that sodium is the leading cause in high blood pressure, sodium may also lead to stroke and is a culprit in cardiovascular disease. We are healthy right now but by not being conscious we could easily be in the hospital at some point. Prevention is the greatest cure. I don’t want my health journey to be just about my weightloss but about healthy decisions overall. This is another Non Scale Victory.
