This right here is exactly why I’m in the 190s but my body “looks” a lot smaller. I started focusing more on weight lifting in Oct when I hit a plateau. I was stuck in the 216s for the entire month and was given advice to do strength training with dumbells, bar bells, kettlebells, weight machines and my own body weight. I do a little bit of strength training after every workout but on 2 of my workout days I focus solely on strength training for about 60 minutes.

My measurements don’t lie yall. Cardio is fantastic, I love it! I run about 20 miles a week. But when the cardio is over, so is my calorie burn. Whereas with lifting weights and strength training, when you’re done, your body continues burning calories alllllll day! Just do simple moves like I’ve shown on my healthyJenell FB page. Every now and then I deadlift 135lbs LOL, but this is not the norm. I started with 5lb dumbells for a lot of my moves. Now I can use 15lbs. I started out with 20lb deadlifts, now I can do 135lbs. Start wherever you are and work from there. I’m not your competition, you are your competition. I aim to be better than myself yesterday, everyday

    This is where I am at. I look different but the scale is not really moving but I am doing weights for an hour about 3-4 times a week and only doing cardio about twice a week.
