Sweet Summer Memories

August 27, 2017

Thank you JaM Cellars for sponsoring this post. Looking for Butter Chardonnay or JaM Cabernet near you? Check out our Store Locator! Just pop in your zip code.

How busy was your summer? Do you think it was anything next to as busy as mine? Girrrrl, let me pour you a glass of this here JaM Cellars Butter Chardonnay while I tell you about my favorite summer memories because this story will be so much better with a creamy-licious glass of Butter.

At the very beginning of summer Joel graduated from pre k and like all parents we were so proud. His father and I dressed him up to the nines in this most adorable 4 piece suit. He looked so sharp during the moving up ceremony at his school. Joel gradated pre k with awards in poetry writing and in overall academics. After the graduation we celebrated with dinner and gifts. There’s no real celebration without the wine! Hubby and I always enjoy a glass of JaM Cellars Butter Chardonnay to celebrate. The bold rich flavor melt in your mouth very symbolic of the icing on the cake.

Also this summer Joel went to TaeKwonDo summer camp every day and he had the time of his life. Every week there was a new field trip and he loves being outdoors.  Let me see if I can remember all the trips they took, town pool, petting farm, movie theater, bowling, park, Adventure land, Fun Zone, Children’s museum and I’m sure I’m missing a few more. Oh there was definitely a day when his Master made them Korean food and he said it was really good.

My Ladybug Elle had he first ballet recital this summer called “Octopus Garden”.  She as the most adorable flower we had ever laid eyes on. I don’t think you understand what seeing my baby girl on stage meant for me.  As a little girl I imagined having a daughter who would be a ballerina. I’d dress her up and style her hair in a bun and watch her dance beautifully across stage.

If you’re following Elle on Instagram then you already know she’s quite the athlete, this summer she was recommended for an advanced gymnastics team where she’s getting really strong but she had to attend 2 days a week for an hour and a half.  Elle also took swimming lessons which was a DAILY commitment on my part. Her summer schedule was very demanding and by the end of the day I was exhausted. After working all day and mixing in Elle’s busy schedule it was nice to have a creamy-licious glass of JaM with some popcorn while I watched my favorite shows on DVR at the end of the night. I’m all about taking time for myself.

My first glass of Butter Chardonnay is done do you need more? Slide over your glass. Now let’s talk real quick about work.  I spent a lot of time during the winter and spring putting things into place in hopes that the summer would be eventful and it sure was! This summer I’ve had amazing partnerships and I’ve traveled to Boston, New Orleans, and Philadelphia. I’ve been working on a cultural series for my natural hair youtube channel where I interview women with natural hair from all walks of life. It’s been a shift for my channel that I was very happy to make but I was so scurred to do! *Takes a sip*  A girl has been putting in the overtime and has been working really hard at growing her business. Being an entrepreneur is non stop and the hustle is real. But things have really picked up for me and I have to keep moving forward.

During the first week of August, my husband Elle, Joel, and I hopped on the Amtrak and rode up to Montreal, Canada for my husbands first family reunion. The train ride was listed as 11 hours but it was more like 13 hours and we did our best to make it an enjoyable 13 hours. We had puzzles, card games, toys, tablets, play dough, and of course each other. Getting to meet the oldest, youngest and everyone in between in his family was a lot of fun and it was something our children really needed. Montreal feels very much like America minus the fact that they speak French.

Looks like we are all out of Chardonnay… Care for a glass of JaM Cabernet? I’m talking blackberries, black plums, black currant, cassis and more—this easy-to-love Cabernet is all about the fruit. I enjoyed my first bottle of JaM Cabernet over a summer date night with hubby while the kids were with grandma for an over night. Now if you have children, you know when they go away for a night its called FREEDOM. We ordered Chinese and had no problems killing a bottle of JaM cabernet – don’t judge us!

Now about last week, my best friend got married in Miami and the turn up queen –that would be me– was in the wedding.

What do you get when you put a group of college friends together in the middle of Miami for a weekend? TROUBLE!   The night before the wedding hotel security came to our room asking us to keep it down twice. The third time the knock came on the door it was the police chief and two officers!  The night of the wedding we all went out to party and celebrate even more and didn’t get back to our rooms until the sun was rising. I slept until 2pm!  I can’t remember the last time I’ve behaved like this.

Actually, it was back when I was in college with these girls.

This summer has been filled with many trips to the beach because my kids and I really love the water. We also took a trip to the water park, Sesame Place, the museum, a road trip to visit my mom, and I come over to this dock very often just to sit and read or sip on my JaM wine by myself after a long week. In the midst of all that I have going on in my day to day I find it very important to always find the time to connect with myself.

I’d love to know what you most enjoyed about your summer. Where’d you go? What did you wish you did more of? Anything you won’t do again? Oh and the next bottle of JaM is on you it’s less than $20 and in a store right near you.

Sounds like a good time was had for all! Even with the police knocking on your door! Been there, done that. As you said, in college! Although, it is very easy to get right back to that mindset when you are with a great group of friends! I will be looking for this wine. Sounds like one I would enjoy! Thanks for sharing your story!

I love this wine. I usually pick up a bottle for the weekends. It is good but totally on budget. Hard to believe that summer is over! IT was a great summer us. Lots of family road trips. So many memories.

I need to try this wine. Just the word butter has me intrigued. I love having parties with friends and I know they will enjoy something like this too. I need to get together with my college friends and try to enjoy as much as you did with your friends. It looks like it was an amazing time.

Love this post! Sounds like you had a great summer and I love your images. I think we all could use a nice glass of wine after a long busy summer. I can truly say, I too made lots of memories with the family and friends this summer but I forgot the wine, lol!

Sounds like you’ve been a busy lady and had a full Summer. Lol! I’ve never heard of Butter Chardonnay, but it sounds really good. Chardonnays are some of my favorite wines to use in cooking. However, I bet this one is just as good to drink. 🙂

I’ve heard great things about this Chardonnay! I haven’t tried it yet but I really want to. We had a great summer, a busy one, but one filled with fun trips and so many memories! It looks like you had a great one as well.

I am not a wine drinker, but the butter in the name got me for sure. Well I can’t say I don’t ever drink it but it really is only for special occasions. Summer seems to have flew by and now fall is around the corner. I am definitely looking forward to cooler weather.

It sounds like your family had quite the summer! It is amazing that your young son won an award for poetry writing and your daughter’s daily routine sounds very busy – no wonder you needed a glass of wine! I love Cabernet so that JaM Cellars drink would have been first on my list!

Getting together with girlfriends is always so much fun, especially when they knew you before you got married! Summer for us flew by and I can’t even remember half of it to be honest. Yours sounds like it was so exciting and sounds like you’ve got such wonderful kids with a great future! I’m definitely trying that wine and hoping it will get me through the last weekend before school officially starts!

Um, would love to try this wine! It is really warm here and white wine is the only wine I can drink in this heat. It is summer here 365 days a year, we love celebrating every day! I will have to try this wine!

You had quite the summer! For me, summer of 2017 was lit! My, then fiancé , graduated from college and a couple of weeks later we got married during a small ceremony with our immediate family. I married my high school sweetheart! I also worked an intense job as a summer program coordinator and it was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done but I learned so much about myself! One thing I wish I did more of was exercised and relaxed a little. And definitely go out with friends more! (K.moore1434@gmail.com)

P.s I really admire you AND your channel!

Getting together with friends that you haven’t connected with in a while, is a sure way to have a great time, reminiscing on the old times, makes for great laughs, and sometimes a good cry lol, all in all those moments are priceless, and are treasured forever in the hearts of those, that shared them. Live, Love, and Laugh…

Wow! Your summer sounds like it was amazing.

I had a baby girl earlier this year so I spent my summer enjoying time out with her and my husband. Of course she was very young so we were limited by the various places and events that we could go to. However next summer when baby girl is 17/18 months we are going to do all the things you hear me! I plan to start her in swim and dance class, go the the beach, pool etc. I am looking forward to it already.

Your summer sounded completely exciting and that wine is a definite taste tester for me. My summer wasn’t lit at all…. I worked way too much and I have to make up for it next summer. kedwardsspoilbra@yahoo.com

My summer was filled with mostly work. My son was enrolled in a summer enrichment program which he didn’t really like it because he had to do school work. LOL but he also did swimming classes and partake in many other fieldtrips. Also in August just before school opened we traveled to St. Thomas USVI for a day trip. We visited Coral World, we saw so many sea animals, We also ate lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, and we did Artic Ice where we had to wear winter coats and gloves to get inside to see the ice sculptures. it was sooo cold in there.

We had a family reunion this summer in Texas and it was wonderful. I saw some of my cousins I hadn’t seen in years. No regrets whatsoever for me regarding this summer.
